....today it's all about using wax as an aging technique...

...i figure, if you have to stare at a hand close up, it might as well be something interesting ....

...oh my...the studio has been full of extra delicious moments this week...

...they are metal, and the state detail and illustration on each one is just so fantastic..

...i plan to use them at the indie craft parade for this....

...we have had a lot of rain lately, and these beauties were sprouting in my flower beds....i kicked them over, and was instantly sad that i had uprooted them but thankful for the nature lesson in ultimate amazingness....

meet faye.....

.....well friends...miss faye is one of the most intense projects i have done in a while....but there is something so satisfying about completing a beauty like her .... faye went from complete mess to fabulous ...and creating knack's first set of custom knobs was super fun as well! we'll see where that little venture leads...

....faye was created especially for the room of sweet baby lu, and will be on her way to portland next week....

.... and for all my special friends who have been waiting....i will be listing two new pieces in the etsy shop on friday, so...keep an eye out... hermione {giant gray buffet}, and lilith {turquoise chest} are coming  up....

this week at knack....

....well my friends....as you can see it has been a very full week....some things i thought would get done ....did not...

...but here are some of the things that shaped this week:

1.so thankful that our furry friend {pictured above} made it through her surgery, even though the news does not look so good...and we are just trying to keep her from itching her staples out...

2. another piece of very sad furniture rescued...and the lines are just what a knack girl likes to see....

3. a surprise package in the mail from a dear reader...full of treats... these kinds of things amaze me....i'm so glad for constant reminders of goodness...

4. we have everything we need...

....now, ready for a relaxing weekend....

problem solving...

...remember the knob dilemma i told you about the other day?..

....well...i put my thinking cap on, and after many theories and attempts...this is what transpired...

...i feel like something really terrifical has begun, and i can't wait to come up with more and more  creative combinations....

kindred spirit...

...several weeks ago i had a meet up with a sweet blog friend....kristen from kfd designs....who i originally met through design sponge where both of our furniture pieces and projects have been featured....

....i love her work, and it was so nice to sit and chat furniture with someone who gets what i do....and vice versa. we have very similar styles... i use wallpaper as my source for detail and design ...kristen hand paints her detail and design...etc...and it was so fun to chat about the greatness of furniture design...and also how physically demanding and challenging it is as well....

...after visiting at knack for a bit we took a little tour of downtown greenville...i was able to introduce kristen to some of my favorite spots , and visit friends who have art studios downtown as well....it was a fun treat for me to venture out of my own studio to visit my artist buddies.... i don't get to do that too often!...

...it was sooooo very hot {maybe that is why i took zero photos! my brain was fried!}.....but we managed to make a fun day of it despite the heat....

...i love meeting blog friends in real life.....it's frabjous! hope you all enjoy her beautiful work!

...on saturday night jb and i had the privilege of attending an art show at white whale studios put on by some pretty amazing little ones ages 2-8 yrs....and it was purely delightful ...

.....i have been working away in the studio on several pieces, and this lovely lady is a massive 7 ft long buffet that is almost ready for her debut...she is a giant beauty.....with gorgeous detail....and the color of an elephant's skin....

...i'll let you know when she is all ready....and in the shop....

2. in all the unpacking, my mom found her high school class ring...

ramblings..

...as i walk down the hall and turn the corner every morning...i am greeted by my new eggplant striped chair ....placed next to my turquoise writing desk....alongside my mood/ inspiration/things i love board...and i know it's silly how much that all makes me smile...

...but seriously...i started daily photographing or journaling.....taking in the details of my life and my surroundings...in the beginning purely for inspiration, but then i realized how it made me slow down and savor so much more of my day....

...memories and bits and pieces to pass on and leave for my children... that give them a window into more than the norm....it has truly changed the way that i go through my day......changed the way i appreciate the little things...little things like love notes from my husband that are pinned up ....pictures of my children.....and of junk trips with my dad...and before i know it i've had a moment....of gratitude...and appreciation....

...so. i challenge you to daily photo journaling....slow down and capture all of it....every single bit....and i promise people will look at you funny, and you may even get called a nerd...but it's all good friends...
