Introductions

Today, I would love for you all to meet "woodington". I have had this chair in the studio for a while, and I just kept putting off the redo. I would search for fabric and nothing would hit me as THE one, and so therefore my little chair buddy just sat and stared at me with sad button eyes. 

Well, a few weeks back, I came across this fabric....and needless to say, I couldn't get the scissors to cut fast enough! I knew exactly where this fabric would go, and in my minds eye a plan began to form. I dropped her off at my buddy Dale's house (he is the upholstery genius!) and when I got her back....my jaw literally dropped to the floor. I love her....love her. In fact the hubs said we need to keep her....but then I said, like  I always do ..."I'll do another one!" ..... and indeed I will.

I want to move in! Seriously, I love everything about this room and one of my very favorite things is the say something pillow cases that you can write whatever you want on! 

They are perfection, and the artist behind them.... Brooke (owner and curator of the lovely Pure and Noble) is double perfection....and has become a dear friend of mine who makes me laugh, challenges me, and encourages the fire out of me. I have much love for this girl....and yes, some of her pillowcases will be coming to live on my bed.

before and after basics: casters

...we're rolling around the studio like champs with our new casters! Today on Design Sponge I have done a simple little tutorial about adding casters to this lovely piece.....that I have not painted yet.....because I may leave it.....or maybe not....we'll see...

I don't think it's any secret that I am a fan of ferm living, they are incredible at what they do.

Then they went and rolled out the new Spring line, and my allegiance and devotion turned to fierce! This color palette is a win, win, winner! ding, ding, diggity!

The Southern Living Spread!

I have been waiting MONTHS to introduce you all to my little superstar....berno....named after the most fantastic Southern Living editor Jennifer Berno who came out and did a story on Knack, and our antics with furniture. I was given complete free reign in creating this piece for the magazine, which is totally AWESOME....all they asked for was a piece that you would be able to see the biggest change in.....and incorporated paint, knobs, and wallpaper. Well, here she is in all her poppy glory! I loved creating this piece, and I hope it shows in her finish......also, Berno is available in the etsy shop if you would like to have her in your home!

It was truly a fantastic experience and if you would like to read the article, just pick up the February edition of Southern Living and check it out! 

This whole process was just a blast , and I have been a little on the yippy, skippy side since the magazine came out this past week.

Thank you to all of you who have emailed, text, called and happy screamed in my ear.....I am surrounded by so much positivity and love....and that is the best thing ever!

Can I just say that I would love to have a little corner with some "crate on casters" book shelves, and antlers to hang above them. I totally would, and I already have the antlers, and the casters, so maybe it's time to invest in some really awesome crates! 
I also love the absolutely gorgeous natural light that floods this photograph. It is perfection.

This week Benjamin Moore's silhouette (AF 655) is on my radar. It is so rich and beautiful, and I think I hear a piece of furniture calling it's name.

There will be new furniture friends to introduce next week, and I will try to keep them coming here and there. However, as I work on my "project of a lifetime" I need to beg your forgiveness for a short season of secrets and surprises! Speaking of surprises,
I want to introduce you to this fantastic wallpaper by Laura Ashley....it's vintage {i believe} from Holland, and it even had the European price tags on it! There were a total of 6 rolls...and did I mention that when I got to the register they were 75 cents a roll? Surprise, surprise...

My daughter B and I made these pretzel sticks, and had so much fun drizzling, dipping... {I have to say photographing ...wink!}...oh and we can't forget nibbling...lots of nibbling!

I would like to introduce you to our new chalkboard wall! JB and I worked together on this one....he drew the tree, and I stenciled the quote ....

I can't tell you how much fun we have had writing on it, and then trying to decide what else to put on it.....the possibilities are endless....and just so fun....I sure wish we had done this a while ago...

....oh, and you get a tiny peek at my kitchen cabinets! I did them 10 years ago, and they are what catapulted me into eventually starting Knack! Even though there are things I would do different now....I don't think I'll ever have the heart to change them...
and lest you wonder what the purple striped chair is doing in the kitchen....I thought a little pop of color would be fun for the picture... but then it went back to its home in the living room...

I have chalkboard walls on the brain, since I just painted a whole wall in my kitchen this way {pictures coming as soon as it is done curing, and the artwork is in place!}....so I could not help but "oooh" and "ahhhh" over this awesome detail in such a clean modern kitchen. 
There is nothing like having permission to doodle on the walls anytime you please....creating mini masterpieces at will.

Chromaticity {the quality of a color as determined by its dominant wavelength and its purity} is a new series that I will be incorporating into the blog weekly. I will be focusing on certain colors that have caught my eye and made me take a second look.

This week it is Blue Ocean by Behr, and it may be showing up inside my kitchen cabinets very soon!
