Etcetera

JB, the shorties, and I headed out of town yesterday for a long weekend in Nashville.   I knew that I would need some pretty things to look at along the way, so I packed these three books to keep me busy ....and let me tell you....I was not able to put the first one that I picked up....down. Holly Becker, who is the creative mastermind behind Decor8 just recently launched her first book, Decorate.....and it is wonderful! So much information is packed into this book, and it had me so inspired...I was furiously "writing things down" on my mental sketchpad! Every photo had me thinking of different ways to design rooms in my home, and inspired me to change out doors, add new front doors, buy more books, get new light fixtures and ....oh my word....I wanted to turn the car around and head home to get started! So much thought went into this book and it deserves every bit of the fantastic attention it is getting right now!

....and not to discount the other two books ....they are wonderful too...but I will tell you about them another day!

For now I am going to sign off until next week, and enjoy some time off with my fam. Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Wonderful. Fantastic. Tasty on a stick.
The rust colored chair with the great wooden arms.....the cowhide with the pink chairs...the green table....and throw in a comfy sectional for good measure? I'm in!
Fun. Fun. Fun.

Introductions

.....Well better late than never....right? Sheesh! I have no excuse....just have been so busy, and I would rather do things right than rush them.

Okay, now for the business at hand.... I would like to introduce you all to "Wyatt". A couple weeks ago I got a call from a lady wanting to sell a few pieces...so, I drove out to her house and immediately fell in love with this piece... and knew that I would remove the old mirror and transform it into a small table/desk.
The design plan for the legs had been milling around in my mind ever since the above magazine page from Better Homes and Gardens with those fantastic chair legs dipped in paint jumped out at me.....it got my mind thinking that legs that look like they have been dipped in chocolate would look pretty sweet!
The stripes did not hit me until the piece was already painted...but I can't even tell you how excited I was when I pulled off the frog tape and knew that this guy was complete!
I have been waiting for a piece to put these fantastic ship/octopus knobs on ...thus the name Wyatt, after my grandpop who is a retired navy man! Love you pops!

Hope this piece was worth the wait...he'll be in the etsy shop as soon as I get the photos uploaded!

Hope you all had a great Easter!!

The carnival was in town this week, and last night we went and partook of the sparkly goodness! Nothing like a good old fashioned carnival to get the creative juices flowing.....and a little matterhorn never hurt either.
...capturing these shots, and the fun times.... made my week....hands down

Have a great weekend you all!

Introductions

Wild turkey is a color that I have used before ...and loved.....but it had been a while. I was glad to get re- acquainted this past week, and I am once again assured and reminded of its perfect neutral shade with a nod to all things pink and flesh like.....and also a hint of my favorite.... gray. All in all a winner in my book.

My client received this piece from her grandmother, and she was using it in her daughters bedroom. It was in great shape, but just needed a little bit of a freshening up. When talking through a design plan for this piece, I understood that miss L wanted to keep it neutral so that it could be used in as many ways as possible....and in as many rooms as possible throughout its lifetime. I think she is so smart for thinking that way, and this color is perfect for just that.

Roomage

via the style files
I mean... seriously....how utilitarian cool is this look, softened by the little chinese lantern and the sweet braided rug?  The stacked pallet coffee table that looks like it has been bleached and sanded to perfection?
Even though the flour sack pillows have the potential to be a little on the itchy side in real life, I'm still totally diggin' it!

I am a big fan of this taupe/gray shade, and the piece that I am going to introduce to you all on Thursday is painted in this color! It is the best shade of pink taupe and every time I use it, I wonder why I don't use it more! It is such a good neutral with a twist.
....and if you don't believe me? be sure to check back on Thursday.....the proof is in the pudding my friends! {wink!}

Found Goodness...

If you all heard a really loud "Woot", and wondered who it was....it was totally me! I scored these McCoy and Brush McCoy pieces at my local Salvation Army this past week, and I will be keeping these guys for myself! I have been looking for them for what feels like forever now...

I could not believe my eyes when I picked them up, flipped them over, and saw the markings. Such an awesome feeling...and for a total of 10 dollars....well worth the splurge. You should have seen the guy giving me the evil eye as he realized what he had just missed out on......you snooze you lose sucka!

** For those of you expecting an Introduction post today, I am switching it up a bit this week....all of the letter excitement last week caused me to run a little behind on my newest piece! I will introduce her to you on Thursday, and as a special added treat on Friday I will have a little DIY goodness for you! Woot!

I am not complaining about the mess, because I am super stoked to be as busy as I am....
...just thought I'd give you a peek into what the studio looks like when it is in multiple stages of work mode...

I look at this as a beautiful mess.....I just can't help myself, but next week will be "get everything back in order week"...for sure!

Have an awesome weekend guys!

Found Goodness...

.....do I have 30 of these letters? why yes.....yes I do!

This is the find that my husband scored for me...{major points baby!}...and we have only picked up one truckload so far....the rest are waiting for a second...third and fourth trip...

They are super heavy and still have the neon lights in them, so I will be spending lots of time taking all of the "guts" out and getting them ready to sell. They measure about three feet tall and are a dirty cream metal......I think a few of them may get painted.

To say that I am stoked.....would be just wrong.....I'm delirious with letter love.

Roomage

photo via ashley from under the sycamore
I have a major attraction and love for any light fixture made out of wire, and this sweet fixture is no exception! Love. it.
I used to make light fixtures out of wire fencing way back in the day.....and this makes me think that maybe it is time to make a few more :)...
...also, I love the collection of globes that you can see in the background....so pretty, and those wooden butcher block counter tops are so fresh and clean.....
good roomage for sure.

**Edit: Thank you for letting me know the originator of this photograph! love her blog and her style!

What about a little mustard? I know it is typically a Fall color, but in my world it can be a year round favorite....
...I love mustard mixed with light blue , and a little red .....or how about mustard with a little olive green, brown, and then there is always the famous mustard and gray combo that is such a favorite with many.
..mustard plays so nice with others..

Introductions

I know lots of you have already seen miss "Jackie" over on Design Sponge and maybe even in the etsy shop, but I would feel bad if I did not properly introduce her here. I feel like she deserves a little extra time in the limelight. winkity wink!

Stepping outside my comfort zone on this piece has conjured up all kinds of new ideas....so much so that I even dreamed about a circus inspired piece the other night, and am working on the artistic execution of that idea as we speak! I hope I'll have that introduction for you next week.....we'll see!
