Found goodness

love the blurry :)

Today's found goodness is so very full of goodness! My friend Jen from Crave studio found these fantastic metal letters......which just happen to be an "x" and an "o" and she gifted them to me! Can you even believe it?! They are perfect...I love them so much, and I promptly took them home and put them on top of my bright orange curio cabinet. They are such a welcome addition!

I am positive that the best thing about this weeks found goodness is friendship.....thoughtfulness....caring.....and the goodness of  "doing" for others. So thankful for friends like these who inspire me to give, and be better!

FYI

photo via method blog

I have been really into cutting up t shirts lately, and have made several painting "cardigans" out of long sleeved t shirts, and cut up some short sleeved t shirts....just for funsies. :)

Sooooo, when I was directed to this super easy tutorial while visiting my friend Brooke's blog....I thought I would give it a try....because these t shirt scarves are that fantastic! Mine turned out a little "scrappier" since my t shirt of choice was not a stretch cotton t shirt, and I decided to use scraps to tie off random places..... but I love the scrappy, messy, free, organic result as well! ......now off to buy some more t shirts.

Whatcha think of me now?! Try it ....you'll love it, and it takes all of five seconds!

Introductions

Well my friends....these past few weeks in the studio have been just plain nutty, in a good way, but nutty nonetheless! Hattie and I have been working, working away on many custom projects... trying to cut down on the waiting list. We have not had a lot of time to work on pieces for the Knack inventory, but we did make some headway on a set of six different mirrors that incorporate a few shades of blue and different papers. Hope to have them finished up this week and in the Etsy shop.
Today however, I would like to introduce you to Erma! This is piece number three for my client Jori and this little lovely will live in the master bedroom. Erma was a mess, and needed the most repairs out of all of the pieces, so it is extra joyful for me to see this shining little beauty with a whole new lease on life. I glued, clamped, sanded, nailed and glued some more until I felt like this old girl was in the best shape possible, and then I went to town on her finish. I picked up these gorgeous glass knobs on sale at Anthropologie, and they were absolutely without a doubt intended for this piece! Love it!

Have a great Monday!

Etcetera

via real simple
Have we talked about these before? Maybe we have, maybe we haven't.....but it's time to visit the possibilities of a wall full of "book shelves"....such a great idea, and so full of color and quirk!

This week was another super busy week at the studio. Three pieces of furniture got their beautiful on and I can't wait to show you them next week! Also I bought a BIG new toy {aka paint sprayer!}....and that is always a good thing my friends!

Have a fantastic weekend!

FYI

In my line of work, I end up with a lot of these hanging around the studio....{in fact I just fished a few out of my purse last night as I was cleaning out}.....so this tutorial found via oh crafts just makes so much sense to me. The cool thing is you can create any shape that you wish....{or find a shape puncher for}..... and if I had my way I would choose circles.....just my personal favorite.
I think this needs to be a "Hattie project"......and when she is done, we need to string them across the studio windows in multiple layers.....
How happy will that be?

Introductions

Welcome to a new week ladies and gents! Are ya ready!? I'm not sure I am .....my "to do" list is a little long...and in my mind I am still in the mountains, kayaking down the river! {We had such a great time!!}.....so it's time to dig deep and git er done!

This past week Hattie and I finished a couple  more pieces, {and started on a few more!}, and this little petite writing desk is one of them. I did this piece for a repeat customer/ friend of mine who is moving out of town and wanted to get another piece of knackage before her and the fam hit the road! She had one request, and that is that it be some shade of gray so that it would fit anywhere in it's new space. Easy peasy....coming right up! We can do some gray around here!

This poor little desk just had nothing going on except for it's great shape and cute little detail on the front. I had so much fun coming up with a plan and making this little beauty brand new again.

Check her out now! Spiffy, if I do say so myself!

17 years....on the 17th

What would life be without the existence of fresh, beautiful flowers? Blegh! I don't even want to know, and the thought sends shivers up my spinage. I love fresh flowers, and will splurge on them as much as possible, but this week
I was showered with floral goodness by Brandi from Anna Jewel Floral . Brandi called me up to tell me that she was going out of town, and had all of the flowers left over from a wedding festival she had done the day before.........and could I use them? Believe it or not I was at Whole Foods standing in line with a bunch of flowers I would need that day for a furniture shoot! I turned right around, skipped out of line, and promptly put back the flowers I was going to buy! Imagine my sheer freak out jig when these flowers showed up at the studio about an hour later? I had fun playing all day and it was hard to get any work done becasue I just wanted to photograph and stare all day. Thank you Brandi!

If you are local please check out Brandi and her beautiful flowers.....you may find tht you can't live without her creations at your next special occasion!

AND.....speaking of special occasions.....drum roll please! Today is our 17 year wedding anniversary!! Woot! We are heading to the mountains for a couple of nights and will be kayaking down the river tomorrow.....I am so excited! We have been looking so forward to getting away and just being together .....it's been too long!
I am so blessed to have the love of this amazing man and am thankful for the years we have had together and the many blessings that have come our way. We have so much to be thankful for, and we celebrate all of these things today!

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

FYI

You all are in for a treat because miss Hattie graciously agreed to share this nifty little tutorial with all of us! Woot! It takes a little bit of "kadoodleing"....but I watched and photographed....and think I could make one myself ......:)

Instructions:
Step 1: Cut 4 long strips about 1/2 inches wide ea. from the fabric of your choice. You may cut more strips if you feel so inclined but it may get difficult to weave through the knob hole.
Step 2: Weave the pieces over and under each other so that they lay down like a # sign

Step 3: Take the two opposite strips and fold them diagonally across the woven center area.

Step 4: Take two of the crossed over strips {one from each side of the woven area} and tuck one through the formed loop of the diagonal strip, passing over the free diagonal strip. Do the same with the other side. This forms a box knot.

Step 5: Repeat step four with the other four cloth strips.

Step 6: Tighten and begin randomly knotting the remaining strips until you achieve a desired shape and size.

 Step 7: Pull the dangling tassle-like cloth strips through the knob hole {this is where you might want to use the nail for help, and if you need to make your hole a little bit bigger you can. Just make sure you don't make it too big!}

Step 8: Tie the strips in a knot on the inside of the drawer to secure the knob. Make sure the knot is big enough to keep from pulling back through.

Ta da!!

Introductions

Can you even believe that we are on  introduction number three for the week?! I hope I get what I am supposed to get done this week so I have one for Monday! I may be wishing I had saved one of these for a rainy day!Yikes!

Anyway, this is the second piece out of four for my client Jori, and this one is for her little boy's room. I love how handsome this piece is with it's barn red paint. The wooden knobs are ones that I saved from a previous piece because I liked their clean modern look, and they fit right in to this design plan perfectly! It is amazing to me how paint and knob choices dictate the direction of a piece. I have painted three or 4 dressers in this same style and they have always seemed so feminine to me, but this is far from feminine in its appearance.

I'm moving on to the piece for the master bedroom which I will hopefully have ready on Monday, and then I have 6 dining room chairs to get done as well.....

...we are busy, busy in the studio......

Introductions

Today is day two of three Introduction posts this week, {yipee skipee!} and this awesome pink piece is one of four that I am creating for my sweet client Jori. I am so excited about all of the pieces that are coming together for this new space and would love to get the opportunity to photograph when everything is in place. But, that will be for another day.......

Today is all about "Elnora". This chest was already white which I am typically not crazy about because I like a dark finish coming through with the distressing {blah blah!}, but with the pale brownish pink that was chosen, and the fact that it is going in a special little girls room.... it's all works just peachy for this aesthetic. I love the wide structural shape of this piece, the rounded trim on the front, and the tiny little turned short legs on the bottom holding up all of the goods! Sweet details that never get old....

I just love what I do......
